As all the horses have now returned to Lydeard Farm for their Summer holidays now feels the right time to reflect on the last National Hunt race season.

With some new younger horse purchases added to the gang towards the end of last season, these all made their hurdle debut along with some of our homebred horses and more established horses from previous seasons.

Catchintsavo

Catchintsavo is a promising 6-year-old Irish-bred bay gelding. He was in training with Anthony Honeyball and was placed 5 out of his 6 runs over hurdles.

A consistent performer in hurdle races, he won his maiden hurdle at Ludlow in January 2026 before placing in top company, showing potential as a future high-class chaser.

Call Me Legend

'Lenny' worked hard all season in training with Phillip Hobbs and Johnson White. The 6 year old Irish bay gelding year ran in 9 races and placed in every race! He was un-lucky on the finishing line a couple of times with some close seconds.

Sired by Milan out of Morning Legend, this hurdler/chaser recently secured a notable Class 4 handicap win at Exeter in January 2026.

Getmetothemoon

Getmetothemoon is a 7-year-old bay home red mare trained by Anthony Honeyball, specializing in handicap hurdles. Bred by Pether's Moon out of Gertie Getaway, she has recorded wins at Plumpton and Stratford, known for a consistent, jumping-focused style often ridden by conditional jockey Chad Bament

She is known to travel well and show a willing attitude, often performing best when "drying ground" allows her to utilize her jumping speed, as she sometimes struggles on very soft ground.

She ran 5 times this season. Placed 3 times.  She had an early Summer break and is now back in training.

Recent Performance and Trends:

  • She often competes on good to soft ground, with notable wins in competitive handicaps.

Lydeard Girl

AKA Peaches this 5 year old homebred mare has had a promising season under training with Kayley Woollacott. She is a daughter of Frontiersman out of Eardisland, showing potential in mares' handicap hurdle events in early 2026

She ran 5 times and placed 3. Due a win next season.

Recent Form & Highlights:

  • Feb 11, 2026 (Hereford): Finished 2nd in the Mares' Handicap Hurdle, described as showing "plenty of promise" on her handicap debut, staying on well near the finish.

  • Mar 18, 2026 (Hereford): Ran in a Mares' Novices' Handicap Hurdle where she was unseated near the last while in third.

Caracara

Ruby is a 6 year old home bread made. Started the point to point season well under training with local trainer Teresa Clark coming 2nd in her debut over fences.

However in her 2nd run at the same course she fell on the final lap and caused an unfortunate incident bringing down other horses and injuring herself resulting in a premature end of the season to rehabilitate.

Honey Delight

Another home bred 4 year old mare making her debut this year to two point to point flat races under training with Lucy Mager who we also support with jockey sponsorship. A season of learning the ropes and education resulted in a 4th in good set ready for next year.

Horses to look out for in the future include

  • Bert’s Legacy in training with Kayleigh Woollacott.

  • Surroundmecomrades in training with Kayleigh Woollacott.

  • Crystal Wings a recent 1/2 purchase in training with Joe Tizzard.

  • Bruce Gobbler - making a return after a season off for rehab.

  • Plus the string of young home breds to be broken in and educated.

Thank you to all the jockeys and stable staff that have looked after our horses this year and Neil looking after the youngsters in Berrow. We have enjoyed many days racing over the season and will enjoy having the horses home for their well deserved Summer break.
